YSEALI Summit 2022 – Brunei

Project Type
Social Innovation

Programme Brief

Initially a three-day Summit exclusive of travel days, impacted by the uncertainty that COVID had on travels that year, the team adapted and produced a hybrid program that ran for nine months from March to December 2022, which opened up the opportunity to engage 47 US and regional Speakers and Moderators. Overall, the program educated and empowered 105 Southeast Asian YSEALI alumni about the complexity of climate issues in SEA, solutions, stakeholders’ transformational technologies, and innovative practices they could deploy.

The program’s three phases; The Ascent, The Summit, and Prominence, provided a total possible engagement hour of 74.75 hours for a general participant. Specifically in the Summit phase, seven Small Grants winners led climate projects impacting their local communities, while 18 Career Fellows were hosted across five regional organizations and developed their professional capacities. Part of this program’s activity involved tracking participants’ attempts to avoid carbon emissions, and in total, 6473.3 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCO2e) were avoided.

Programme Background
