Plastic Bottle Shade

As part of the 10 art installations featured in KLPAC, we installed our singnature Bottle Shade. We are really looking forward to building a community of artists, builders, designers and actors here in Sentul :) Waste Materials Upcycled: 1.5l plastic bottles - 1000 units

House Relief x EPIC

4 days. 50 collaborators. 1 mission. Building of the EPIC ARMY module home. Biji Biji was privileged to be part of this epic build as a kickstart to project house relief in kelantan. Great things can be achieved when people put their minds and energy together for a common goal. "The East Coast flood had displaced more than 150,000 people from their homes in Kelantan. These people are now living in makeshift camps, temporary housing units or even in their wrecked homes. IMARET (a NGO) has been actively involved in flood-phase relief and also post flood-phase relief work.

The Tree of Life

The Eco Meadows Tree was made out of 50% reclaimed aluminum waste from one of their demolished slew galleries in Penang. The aim of the tree was to build a modular ever-changing tree out of waste materials, and encourage sustainable thinking by showcasing the potential of combining art with upcycling...

Sustainable Office Renovation

The Elipsis Office Renovation project was an upcycling renovation job which took 30 days of production time to complete. Approximately 500 pieces of reconditioned pine wood from old pallets were used as office dividers, as well as staff lounge sofa seating, pantry shelves, bar stools and a coffee table. 50 pieces of reclaimed coin boxes from a security company were also repurposed into a multi storage shelf wall.

Waste Art Sculpture

In collaboration with Agrovella, we brought Charlie and our Singing Plants to Danok Theme Park (Thailand). This project carries an important milestone as it was our first international project. Charlie is the largest waste generated scarecrow on the planet! Made entirely from sheets cut out of scrap diesel drums and sculpted with a sledgehammer and imagination, Charlie is designed to put a smile on people's faces for decades.

Birds Wing

As part of an initiative to “Art Attack” Genting Highlands during their 2015 renovations, we were commissioned to create a massive 3D painting and sculpture on the central helipad in collaboration with visual artist Alena Murang. Biji-biji built wing of the bird, entirely created from waste materials found in Genting’s storage facility. This unique upcycling project saw the inclusion of old casino chairs, a decommissioned transformer and bits and pieces from the old theme park demolition..

Jamboo

This is our bamboo art installation down south in Konstruk! Cheekily called 'Jamboo', it's the one installation there that's interactive with music instruments people could jam together with! But of course, the other installations here are AMAZING! Architects, designers and artists from around asia have built massive, beautiful and awe inspiring bamboo structures here in Iskandar Puteri! Checkout Konstruk's FB page. Or even better, make the trip and witness it for yourself! It is wayyy more than worth it!

Urbanscapes 2014

At Urbanscapes 2014, Biji-biji Initiative welcomed festival goers with a singing water installation, dancing water installation, geodesic dome projections, DJ booth and energy playground. All installations were designed to highlight the importance of water. The Singing Water and Dancing Water installations were the result of an open source collaboration with GeoCyclab, a place of observation and research along the model of T.A.Z (Temporary Autonomous Zone) of Hakim bay.
