Meet The Team

Faris Tiang

Faris studies in a Bachelors of Marketing Communication but always felt that he wanted to do more hands-on practical work. Did a 3 months internship at UNHCR after graduating his degree under the Registration department. Stumbled upon Biji-Biji through a recommendation of a friend and found family and a place to belong here.

After a year of training under our Head of Production, William, he is now entrusted to manage the fabrication space in our new Mereka Makerspace in Publika. Learned building techniques for wood and metal under various master builders in Biji Biji. Has experience in teaching basic woodworking and metalworking, setting up for events, managing transport logistics and on-site building of art installations. Still has a long way to go in terms of learning different methods of building but is one of the best apprentices out there.

Has worked on a bamboo structure in Puteri Harbour Johor, metal waste sculptures in Mytown Shopping Mall, decorative art in a Jurassic theme park in Gardens Mid Valley and various furniture for our Mereka Makerspace. Local boy from Kuala Lumpur. Hobbies include playing the drums, training Parkour and hiking. A fan of metal and rock music, hip hop, jazz, classical and trance.
