Technical Product Manager


Brief Introduction

Are you a designer or developer who is in pursuit of learning to lead a team of developers? Come stand on the shoulders of giants as we connect ahead! You will take on the role of a Product Manager (PM) and lead the team of developers & front-end support. Most excitingly, you will learn the ins and outs of scaling a SAAS product and operating a platform business model and utilize your coding magic for process improvements & bugs within the platform.

Job Description

  • Lead the entire back-end product lifecycle team (developers & front-end support) from identifying an opportunity to ideation to prioritization & delivery and dive into the details of specifics within the product remit to ensure nothing is missed and requirements are covered.
  • Lead deliverables with the scrum team, planning and running the sprints, increasing sprint velocity, and working with the product team for continuous evaluation of priorities and backlog grooming.
  • Collaboratively lead design and development of the applications and integration of third-party tools & platforms alongside the Web Development Team.
  • Collaborate with platform team efforts by adapting the Scrum framework and accomplishing relevant tasks to enhance work productivity.
  • Develop adequate technical documentation for Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and product development efforts.
  • Communicate with the large team through scrum meetings, including standups, reviews, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Understand technical documentation such as functional requirements and technical designs and translate these documents into working code.
  • Create and execute unit tests on your code to ensure its robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues with existing and new code on the Mereka connect platform.
  • Research and extract insights of industry best practices and apply them to product development wherever applicable.

Job Requirements

  • Relevant undergraduate degree or formal qualification in Information Technology or Business with a specialism in Software Engineering, Information System, Computer Science, E-Commerce, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
  • The ideal candidate has 3-4 years of related experience in the relevant fields and at least 1 year of experience managing a team of product developers & front-end support.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in software development using Angular, Node.Js, HTML5, JavaScript/Typescript, ES6, ES7, CSS/SASS, and PHP.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong trend and market research skills.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Familiarity and up-to-date knowledge of Web Development or Tech software: Airtable, Webflow, Figma. Additional advantages: Intercom, Discourse, Hellonext.
  • Knowledge of Web development & SAAS platforms.
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of initiative.
  • Able to work cross-functionally across different teams.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
